Jewellery
What is the best way to measure my ring size?
For more information click here.
What size are the bangles?
If you were to measure the longest distance across the inside of our bangles the measurement would be 60 to 62 mm. Do remember that our bangles are also hinged so you do not have to push them over the hand.
What caratage is the gold?
The caratage of our gold is 18 carat yellow or white gold. This means that it will have 750 parts in a 1000 of pure gold and the qualtiy assurance hallmark will include the mark of 750.
Why is platinum more expensive?
Platinum is 30 times rarer than gold therefore its price is invariably higher than gold. Platinum jewellery is generally 95% pure platinum compared with 18 carat gold jewellery which is 75% pure gold. Platinum is denser than gold, so a piece of platinum jewellery weighs over one third more than the same piece made of 18 carat gold. The process of making platinum jewellery requires a very high level of craftsmanship.
Is the body jewellery hypoallergenic?
Our body jewellery is manufactured to the highest standards in 18 carat gold and is hypoalllergenic, which is particularly important for sensitive skin.
Setting
What is the best way to measure my ring size?
Prong setting is when the diamond is held around the outer edge (girdle) by individual wires. Usually there would be 4 or 6 such wires. This is the most common setting for solitaire and cluster rings. (see Solo 100 ring)
What is bezel diamond setting?
Bezel setting is when the diamond is set in a hollow tube so that the outer edge (girdle) of the diamond is held by a border of gold or platinum. (See Isola earring)
What is a flush diamond setting?
Flush setting is when the diamond is set into the gold or platinum so that it is level with the surface of the jewel. (see Kayla Wave ring)
What is tension diamond setting?
Tension setting is when the diamond is held between two sections of gold or platinum and the tension and strength in the jewel is securing the diamond. A very contemporary and clean setting. (see Davina ring)
What is pavé diamond setting?
Pavé setting is when the diamonds are set in a carpet-like fashion held into the surface of the jewel with micro fine individual beads. (see Celestial ring)
What is channel diamond setting?
Channel setting is when the diamonds are secured by two borders of gold or platinum, giving the effect of a rail track.
What is bombé cushion setting?
Bombé cushion setting is when the diamond is held with a border of gold or platinum (similar to bezel setting) but the wall of the setting has a convex curve, similar to that of a cushion. (see Una earring)
What are illusion set diamonds?
Illusion set diamonds have the enhanced value of looking larger than they actually are. This is achieved by special highly polished settings which reflect the brilliance from the diamond and give a larger appearance. It is particularly effective with diamonds of 5 points and less. (see Isola pendant)
Chains
What is a box chain?
A box chain is created with very fine open boxes of gold or platinum that are individually joined and soldered together. It gives a very simple and modern chain. (see Solo 25 pendant)
What is a curb chain?
A curb chain is created with individual fine wire oval shaped links that are joined, twisted and soldered together to give a highly flexible chain. Probably the most popular and most widely used chain in the world. (see Square Cross pendant)
What is a cable chain?
A cable chain is created with individual fine wire circular shaped links that are joined and soldered together giving a simple but substantial chain. (see Valda Cross pendant)
